Mental Health Counselor

If you’ve been carrying anxiety, depression, trauma, or a sense that something in your life  needs to change, I want to help you find the strength that’s already inside you.

Hi, I’m Sibo Zhao. My hope for every person I work with is that they leave our sessions feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood, because that’s where real healing begins.

I’ve spent over 14 years working across international education and with people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds, and that experience shapes how I show up with you: with curiosity, cultural sensitivity, and a deep respect for your unique story. I hold a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Kentucky University and am currently pursuingmy Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Lindsey Wilson University, which means I bring rigorous training, evidence-based approaches, and hands-on relational skills to our work together; but more than that, it means I know how to meet you exactly where you are.

I walk alongside people facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, identity development, major life transitions, difficulty regulating emotions, and serious mental illness. I draw on an integrative mix of therapeutic modalities. At the heart of my work is Adlerian psychology with its emphasis on encouragement, belonging, and social interest. I integrate trauma informed, cognitive/dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness and body-based approaches, as I believe your healing shouldn’t be boxed into just one method. For me, counseling isn’t just about reducing symptoms or chasing surface-level self-improvement. True growth comes from understanding yourself deeply, uncovering meaning in your story, building emotional clarity, cultivating genuine connection, and creating a life that feels authentic to who you are.

Whatever you’re facing, your strength and resilience are still there. I look forward to helping you reconnect with them.

“Healing begins when we feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Real transformation doesn’t occur because someone tells us who we should be; it happens when we discover the courage to become who we already are. My hope is to help you reconnect with the inner strengths, creative potential, meaning, and resilience that have been there all along. In my journey, I hold onto a lifelong favorite reminder from the film Homeless to Harvard: hope is a hard habit to break.”
