Tarah Mathews, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Tarah is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, as well as The Oaks Behavioral Health’s President and Owner.

She has over 16 years of experience in psychiatric-mental health nursing, and 10 years of experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.   She has practiced in a variety of treatment settings including inpatient, crisis stabilization, community mental health, and private practice.  She is experienced in treating individuals of all ages, across the life-span.

Tarah believes in a holistic approach to the treatment of mental health disorders and utilizes assessments and interventions that treat the mind and body as one system. She offers pharmacogenetic testing in office which helps determine which psychiatric medications may be a better fit for your unique, individual genetic profile.  She is also happy to discuss dietary and lifestyle changes that, in addition to any psychiatric medications prescribed, will help you achieve the best results.

Tarah is not accepting new patients at this time, but she gladly collaborates with the other Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners at The Oaks when needed.

I believe there is so much more to the treatment of mental health than just writing a prescription.  Our bodies, minds, and spirits are all interconnected, so we need to address all aspects to achieve true wellness.  At The Oaks, we believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms.  From life experiences to genetics, each individual is unique and should be treated as such.  With a holistic approach tailored specifically to the person, recovery is not only possible, it’s expected!””
